Pope Eugene I

Pope Eugene I (died 2 June 657), also known as Eugenius I, was Pope from 10 August 654 to his death in 657.〔"Pope St. Eugene I" in ''The Catholic Encyclopedia''. Vol. 5. New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1909.〕 He was a native of Rome, born to one Rufinianus.
==Early life==
Little is known of Pope Eugene's early life other than that he was a Roman from the Aventine and was known for his holiness, gentleness, and charity.
